Bajaj Twister Mixer Grinder

Our Philips Mixer Grinder HL1651 conked out after giving relentless service for 8 years. The motor got burnt and the service centre gave a quote of Rs.1100/- to change it. But the catch was they would not offer any warranty for the new motor. This was a bit surprising because usually Philips offers one month warranty for the replaced/ repaired parts. Rather than spending Rs.1,100/- to repair the old mixie, we thought of buying a new one. So the hunt for a new Mixer Grinder started.

We were looking for a high-powered mixer-grinder, reliable brand, low price and importantly service back-up for the motor. After doing a bit of research we settled for Bajaj Twister.

It has a powerfurl motor of 750W with an RPM of 20,000. It comes with two big jars for liquid and wet grinding and one small jar for chutney grinding.  The pack comes with five interchangeable blades for multipurpose grinding, whipping, chopping and mincing.

Though the MRP was Rs.3,995/- we got it for Rs.2,690/-. Following are the pros and cons:

Pros: Powerful, Three separate jars with interchangeable blades, 5 year warranty on motor, reasonably priced

Cons: The motor is a bit noisy, The finish could have been sleek(base unit and handle), No facility to wind cord.

That was good piece of info. I have always regarded high about Philips brand but it is surprising that they have refused warranty on the replaced new motor. I wonder whether the service was done by Philips direct or their franchise. Nowadays, most of the companies outsource customer service.

Five year warranty on motor by Bajaj is good, I think no other brand is offering that.

I had in fact gone to two service centres. While one said this could not be repaired, the other service centre offered to repair for Rs.1100/- but without any warranty on motor. I spoke with the Philips customer care number..they too said there is no warranty on the replacement part.
