I am using Uber cabs since long now.  Recently Uber  was running a promotional offer in which if u refer a friend to use Uber cab (by using a promo code) that person will get a free ride upto Rs.600. And after the other guy completes his ride, the referrer gets a free ride of Rs.600.

Now i have referred almost 20 persons and earned 20 free rides and according to the offer i am eligible to get 10,000 uber credits.

Now yesterday night, i tried signing in to my account and it said “your account is disabled”.

I tried to write to their customer support but all i am getting is a system generated response.

This is unfair on their side as they are claiming false promises and as the offer started getting over they are now suspending accounts.

My friends also facing the same issue. Some are getting emails of paying their outstanding amounts, where in the taxi receipts its showing Rs.0 fare and also in their Uber Payment options free rides are still there.

Kindly help me in this matter as it is false claiming by the company to attract customers and than letting them down.

  1. I faced the same issue even worst. One of my friend referred me and i got Rs. 600 free ride. But I couldn’t use it in my old gadget and contacted them(Android 2.3 Uber app doesnt work properly). I bought new phone couple of weeks back and i referred my wife with my referral code. She used it and i got another Rs. 600 free ride. So 2 free rides now. I never texted/informed anyone else my Uber code. I didnt use any other account in my device.
    Today , while placing my first ever uber ride request (new device obviously) i saw free rides available. After the ride i saw it deducted from paytm balance (RS. 231). Also my free rides are gone.
    2 customer support in 2 different email said that my account is suspended. One said i used multiple accounts in my device. Another guy said i have distributed my promo code publicly. RIDICULOUS.
    Uber is cheating. They cant afford free rides. This is their strategy. They will never give free rides. Many of my friends told me about this. Please take necessary action.
    I have enough evidences of my genuineness.


  2. After so many mailchains from both side I won. Feeling really happy. If any action taken by this site, really thanks a lot. Along with that some strict and confident words helped me to gain this victory and My issue is resolved.

    Today Uber team confirmed me that they have reversed this action for now. I should be able to avail of Uber promos and credits going forward. They’ve also refunded the fare of my last ride to me. An updated receipt of the ride has also been sent to me. My other free ride has also been restored to my Uber account.

    I have been riding on Uber for long during my stay in Mumbai.Till date I have as many 5 rides on uber. Today 20th June 2015, I reached Kolkata and tried to book a cab from Howrah Station and to my surprise account was disabled. Last payment was of 800 bucks and have no outstanding fare on my account. When I informed the same to Uber on mail, it was told that due to security reason my account is disabled. I was asked to provide identity and mobile number proof. My question, how can a private cab provider ask id proof to enable my account. Though due to urgency I provided pic of my PAN card. Even after this they asked for the mobile number proof. This was too much, when I am standing in rain and waiting for pick up. I refused to provide any assistance. Firstly why they are asking for ID proof, as it is my confidential document and they have no right to ask about same. Also no information on how the ID proof will be used or misused. Secondly can they state the reason of blocking the account.
    Uber may be clever with promotion offer to chip in new customer.But in long run the processes of this group is unethical and this is clear from all the reports from worldwide media.

  4. My account got suspended, because i forgot my password , hence entered wrong multiple times, Never used free riides or coupons. They wrote my account is permanently suspended. No reason is provided

  5. I am also facing the same issue. They are not ready to listen. I don’t know what they are trying to prove here. I got installed Uber on my mobile and used promotional code of first 3 free rides. But instead of fulfill this promise they have suspended my account. But when I am asking to them why they have disabled my account they don’t have satisfactory answer to this. This is totally unfair. I guess we all should go to consumer court regarding this.
