Complaint regarding new LG AC performance

We had purchased one LG Air Conditioner (LSA5VP3M) from Sales Emporium, Mahamayatala Branch few weeks ago. We had hardly used the AC for more than 3-4 hours and already the cooling effect is absolutely gone. First, we thought perhaps it had gone to Fan Mode and perhaps there was some problem in the remote. So we asked the store’s salesperson to solve this. It was when the technician checked the AC, we got to know that there was no gas inside. Just within few hours of operation, how can the entire gas be consumed? We registered a complaint at LG after which they sent an engineer to our place for checkup. They are suggesting that they can provide a free service by refilling the gas. But why would that be necessary? We have just bought the AC. It should not run out of gas so soon. Obviously the AC was faulty from the beginning, with some internal leakage or something.

Now, both Sales Emporium people and LG are reluctant to help us in the right way. We are not asking for refund or anything. But at least they should replace the faulty machine with a new one which is in running condition. But none of them are taking responsibility. As consumers, we are feeling quite helpless as we have already invested some amount in it. The AC was mainly bought for my old mother who does not keep well. But unfortunately, she is not able to get any benefit from it even though she had invested. Please look into the matter with concern and help us get out of this mess.

    You have not mentioned the dates when you purchased and when the installation was done. The product ought to have been checked for performance during the installation by the company. If there had been any defects during installation then you can ask for replacement. You may ask the company to fill gas and see how it performance. If the problem repeats then you can ask for replacement. We hope you have records of all your complaints.

    Thanx for your reply. However the problem is we are not sure whether the installation and checking was done by someone from the store itself or from LG. After we bought the AC, the sales person told us that they will send technician the next day for installation. That, they did. But they did not give us any paper regarding the installation and checking. If he was an authentic LG person, he should have given us a document. The mechanic who came just informed us that everything is fine. In fact, for a few hours after he left, it went on perfectly. But then this problem started. Either there was very little gas to run for a few hours only or there has been some leakage or anything. In both cases, isn’t it the company’s responsibility to check the source of the problem first rather than insisting on filling the gas as a temporary solution? Because if we agree to fill gas for now, and then the problem arise again, we will be in the same mess all over again.

    Dear Madam,

    You have again not mentioned when you purchased and when you installed the machine.

    If you are not satisfied with the installation or if you had any doubts regarding installation then you should have registered your complaint with LG immediately.

    Normally, you can seek replacement if you find the product has arrived in dead /defective condition at the time of purchase or if the device is not functioning properly even after repeated services.
