ICICI Bank charges interest on reversed Annual Fee

I received ICICI bank Credit card statement in the month of March 2016 in which they had charged Rs. 500 + Service tax as Annual Fee against an old card which was cancelled/blocked by the bank (they had issued a new card on which i had more than Rs.50000 spent in previous year hence no annual fee to be levied) . I called customer service executive regarding this and was told not to pay the amount as that would be reversed in next statement. So I paid rest of the amount pertaining to my regular transactions excluding this Annual Fee and service tax.

In next statement, I again received this amount as outstanding balance and now they had added Interest charges on that. After repeated calls and emails to ICICI Bank customer care, they reversed the incorrectly charged Annual Fee of Rs 500 + Service Tax. However, they did not reverse the Interest charges on same amount.

There were many emails exchanged explaining the scenario but bank did not budge and asked me to pay interest charges. This was a mental harassment for me as bank was asking me to pay the interest charges on the incorrect base amount which was already reversed by the bank. I wanted to close this matter so paid Rs. 721 as interest charges in the month of August 2016 and closed the credit cards. It is like I paid Rs. 721.00 as interest charges on Rs 00.00.

    I had raised this concern several times with the bank that can be read in my earlier post. Reason for posting this comment is my disappointment with ICICI Bank customer service responses.Again you are suggesting to write whole story to same customer care?
