I received a letter from CPC Bangalore stating that – my Income tax return for AY 2016-17 has been transferred to local jurisdictional officer for verification.
Since then, I have been constantly visiting the local AO in ITO, Cuttack for the last 1 year and he keeps mentioning that they have not received any communication from CPC Bangalore and no action-item is pending at their end. Now, if I call up helpline at Bangalore, they keep insisting that the case is pending with local AO. So, basically both the departments are blaming each other and subsequently my ITR refund is stuck up.
I have already tried raising grievance complaints in my efiling account portal, but the complaints are simply being closed and marked as ‘Fully Resolved’ with comments – “Pending with CPC”. This definitely is not a resolution to my problem.
Please take up this issue on a high priority escalation against the functioning of Income Tax Department of India. I am expecting a more proactive and efficient handling of cases like this. As a citizen of India, this has definitely put me in a sense of doubt about the functioning of government organisations. I’m sure there should be many more people, facing the same problem as me.
