I have booked spice jet flight tickets for 8 people (my parents and relatives) on 5th Jan 2015, for Port Blair-Visakhapatnam (via Chennai) journey on 9th March 2015 (booking id: NF2203640449567) in Makemytrip website. Later, i have partially cancelled (2 tickets out of the 8 tickets) for Chennai-Visakhapatnam journey in MakeMyTrip website due to change of plan of 2 individuals (Cancellation Reference Number – IN1503R9S055011). But when my parents and relatives (6 members) reached airport, the spice jet authorities informed that all 8 tickets are cancelled for Chennai-Visakhapatnam journey. When i brought this to the notice of customer care executive (Mr. Vxxxs Kxxxxr) immediately, he confirmed me that wrong cancellation happened at the MMT of all the tickets (Reference Number of the conversation: 150309022610). I asked him to book six new tickets for the same journey from the company account as it was their mistake, but he told that he doesn’t have the permission to do so. The solution he provided was that to book 6 new tickets for the journey and send us the ticket invoice and details for which make my trip would refund the full amount. Upon his confirmation only, i have booked 6 new tickets for the same journey for the same flight (Booking id: NF2203442642701) costing approx. 8500 INR each, totaling to 52119 INR.

When i have put up the request for refund of 52119 INR, the customer care people are stating that they did not promise that they will pay the refund for the new tickets booked, however, they will provide the refund for the tickets wrongly cancelled by them. The tickets I had booked earlier are at much lower cost (@2264 INR) compared to the new tickets booked. I will not bear the loss for the mistake that happened at your company end. They have refunded the amount I have escalated the issue to step-2 & step-3 in the complaint/service request protocol, but I haven’t received any reply from the company end. They have refunded the amount of tickets that were wrongly cancelled by them totaling 13806 INR. Because of their mistake, I am now bearing a loss of 38313 INR, which I would not like to. They have to compensate for the mistake that happened at their end and also request them to keep the word that the customer care have promised to refund the amount of new tickets.
