Misleading promotional offers from country club

I had filled out a gift coupon and dropped the same in a drop box at Hyderabad Central, Hyderabad. On the 26th of Jan 2016. This company belongs to the Pantaloons group of companies.

I received a call yesterday, on 12th March from a number from one Mr.Vxxxxi, stating he is calling from Hyderabad Central and that I have won three gifts worth Rs.30000/- as my coupon was picked in the lucky draw. I was asked to come to a Hotel Best Western and collect my gifts free of cost. On asking again and again the person had mentioned that Hyderabad Central is celebrating its 11th Anniversary and hence is giving gifts to their customers.

On Arriving at the venue we were said that we have to attend a presentation about the company and its partner Country club after which the gifts would be handed over without any payment from our end.

GIFTS mentioned were . 1. Crockery set, 2. One day free entry at a famous resort for 8 members 3. A trip for four person to any domestic destination in India for a week, where the expense of stay will be free and good and travel have to be paid for.

At the hotel, we were being coaxed continuously to apply for the country club membership cards and pay the amount for any package we choose immediately. At each level of presentation we were assured that our free gifts will be given irrespective of our decision to go for the membership with country club. At the end of two hours when we decided not to opt for it we were given a gift of 6 glass bowls and a letter that is very intelligible about the free stay at any destination. The letter stating that we have to pay Rs. 5000 to avail the facility and the third a visiting card asking us to call if we wanted to avail free stay at resort for a day. I completely doubt the genuineness of the letter and card given to us. I would like to know what can be done to take these companies to task.

Being from a middle class family it is but natural to excited at winning of any manner. I am totally shocked at how such companies with big names are playing with our emotions causing mental damage and loss of valuable time.
