I have booked a ticket on 22-Nov-2016 from Bangalore to Rajahmundry for 26-Dec-2016, 3 2AC tickets with 3tickets as wiating listed with PNR no. 4745987781 for Rs.4500/-. However on the of travel only one ticket of my father-in-law(Senior citizen) got confirmed and the other 2 tickets were in WL. He alone travelled, i assumed that as per IRCTC rules, many times , if the tickets are in WL even after chart preperation, they got automatically cancelled and the amount was refunded to my bank account. I waited for a week and when i mailed the IRCTC regarding the same, they said i have to file TDR with in 72 hours for Partially confirmed tickets. But as i was unaware and i tried to login to IRCTC and tried to file TDR, but the site itself is not allowing me to do, i informed the same, when the chart gets prepared the IRCTC should send the SMS for such partially confrimed tickets with note saying to file TDR with in 72 hours. Sir, Can you please help me on this as the amount that should be refunded is Rs.3000+/-.

  1. Hi,

As per Indian Railways rules, partially waitlisted tickets will not get cancelled. If you can see on the ticket, it would be mentioned that if some passengers did not travel then the person who travels should obtain a TDR from the TTE and file the same with the Railways.

If you want to pursue your case then we suggest you immediately write to CCM (Chief Commercial Manager) of the ticket issuing zone. It will be the discretion of the Railway authorities to decide whether to approve refund as per rules.
