This is a query regarding a Smart pay option which I activated with my HDFC Credit Card.

I requested through phone banking customer care on 23rd of October to de-activate the option of Smart pay linking to three LIC bills. I knew that two bills amounting to around Rs 42,000 were up for payment on the first week of November. However, to my surprise I received messages that the bills were paid on 7th of November and on calling up the customer care, this time I was told that the previous request was not registered properly and now they would do the necessary. Indeed this time I received e-mail confirmation for cancellation of Smart pay option linking LIC bills. In addition, I was also told that HDFC would process in reverting the payment.

I had planned to stop this payments because of some urgent obligations.

Today on 10th of October, I received payment receipts from LIC and I again called up customer care, and it was told to me that HDFC received the bills from LIC on 19th of October and thus had to go ahead with the payment.

My question is- since I am the payer, why would the bill notification from LIC prompt HDFC to pay even after I placed the request to stop payment? Moreover, the payment was done well after a fortnight of receiving the bill notification from LIC-if that is the argument from HDFC phone banking customer care. I was also suggested to request LIC to give back my premium amount, which I felt is not plausible.

Kindly suggest if I should raise this further with the bank.
