I had purchased furniture from Living Room Lifestyles Private Limited, 36, L.J.. Road, Mahim, Mumbai – 400016 for my new house on 15th August, 2014. This included 2 beds, 3 wardrobes, a modular kitchen, a wall unit, a L-shaped sofa and centre table.

Living room had promised me the best quality wood and other upholstery material for the same. They also promised 1 year free service post the delivery of the furniture. However, right from the day the I made the complete payment towards the billing done by Living Room, I have been given substandard quality service from them. The furniture delivered has problems right from day 1. The beds had sharpened edges, the wardrobes doors did not close. The locks of the wardrobes are all defective. The clothes rod in the wardrobes are all weak and bend with even bare minimum clothes.

The wall unit has been made unevenly. The wood has changed colour in the last 5 months only. The modular kitchen is another bundle of frauds that has been delivered to us from Living Room. The kitchen cupboards are not aligned uniformly. The drawers of the modular kitchen keep opening despite closing them hundred times a day. The channels used in the runners of the drawers are of an inferior quality.

The sofa upholstery has degraded over the last 5 months and the covers have changed colours completely. The sofa alignment along the hinges have changed.

The bed storage shelves were supposed to have stay back hinges so that one does not need to hold them, but none of them have it and they need to be held by the person opening the bed storage shelf. The wood used for all the furniture is of an inferior quality and creaks every time the sofa or bed is used. The handles used in the wall unit have started rusting in the last 5 months only.

We have complained multiple times that the defects be fixed since the furniture is covered under 1 year warranty. However, no service has been provided despite repeated attempts.

Now things have become even worse, since the contact person has started disconnecting our calls and stopped responding to any of our contact attempts. This is not the kind of service that is expected from a renowned company like Living Room. The sales person we were in touch with constantly was “Jai”.

Now finally to stop my issues I had to get an external carpenter to solve some very major issues and make payments to them separately. What is the use of the 1 year free warranty offered by Living Room if they do not respond to any consumer calls.

I request you to please help me get my right as a consumer who has made all payments on time from my hard earned savings and abided by the payment policies of Living Room.
