Bill Imposed on AIRTEL DATACARD

Bill Imposed on AIRTEL DATACARD

I, Ashok Ratna working with State Bank of India, Dhebar Road Branch, was using an Airtel dongle with plan of Rs.450/- (2GB free with 3 G Speed and then 2G with charges,) while availing the connection I was told by the sales representative of the Airtel that the monthly bill will not exceed by Rs.625/- as we shall be able to use 3G speed up to 2GB with free usage and after that for further usage in 2G speed we must message for further usage. My billing for 11 sept 12 to 10 Oct 12 was made for Rs 1685.40. On receipt of this bill we have requested for clarification of GB usage from Bharti Airtel telephonically. Meanwhile this dongle was not in use due to billing dispute.

After continuous follow ups I have requested for clarification via email dated 10.12.2012 which was responded by appellate.guj@in.airtel.com dated 11.12.2012. As per there reply dated 11.12.2012 :-

1. My Total GPRS usage in KB is 2842003 (Aprox)

My Airtel bill is showing usage of 284407 KB (Approx Two Lacs Eighty Four Thousand Four Hundred Seven), not as they are mentioning as TWENTY EIGHT LACS FORTY TWO THOUSAND THREE

2. As per their records my total GPRS usage is GB :- 2.72 (Aprox)

Against my approx. calculation for GPRS usage as per the KB’s mentioned in my Bill comes to Approx 0.27 GB.

I understand calculations of a layman may be incorrect but we have full right as a consumer to ask for clarification from service provider. It is no way ethical to get surprised with recovery agents at home and at workplace asking for bill amount, with the clarification once billed with usage, it has to be paid. This has hampered my integrity and dignity.

Further finally I received a call from Airtel representative on 23.01.2013 with an Offer to settle the dispute by paying Rs 500/- per month for three months which would be considered as FULL SETTLEMENT. To avoid any further inconvenience I have paid Rs 1500/- same day as my plan was of Rs 450/- for 2GB excluding taxes at Airtel Office Dhebar Road Rajkot with Receipt No. 21105. Even not using the dongle for these three months I decided to settle the claim by paying min charges for the tenure of dispute. I was also assured by the representative that my connection will be disabled and no further claims will be asked for in future.

Lastly we are in receipt of a Legal Notice from Airtel dated 24.02.2013 around 04:00 PM, and the notice was for the hearing scheduled on 24.02.2013 in between 11:00 AM to 03:00 PM. This was the most surprising behaviour which was not expected out of such big name as Bharti Airtel. This is not only harassment but also an attempt to hamper my dignity and dishonor me in my wide social circle.

We request you to kindly take suitable actions in this matter as this kind of harassment is no way justified. We are ready to pay the dues of Rs 1279.00 as soon as they are clarified to us. We again assure you this is not a matter of mere amount but educated people cannot be imposed by service providers in unethical ways.

Your immediate response and actions in this matter will be highly appreciated.

Well, i would say, that airtel is the most disgusting mobile supplier. As never resolves any complaint and always tries to take more money out of the customer without information. Airtel must be banned in the industry as it is highly famous now for frauds and thefts on people’s money and then their cusotmer services team is too rude and aggressive that a customer feels irritated to speak with them.
