I purchased a JioMart Gift Card worth ?500. I used ?245 from the gift card for placing an order on JioMart. However, the remaining gift card balance of ?255 was subsequently blocked/invalidated by JioMart without any prior warning, notification, or consent.
At the time of purchase and redemption of the gift card, no terms and conditions were displayed or communicated stating that the gift card must be redeemed in full in a single transaction or that partial redemption would result in forfeiture of the remaining balance.
On reviewing the Gift Card Terms & Conditions, it is only mentioned that:
* The balance cannot be paid out in cash
* If exchanged for a lower value product, the difference will not be paid in cash
There is no clause stating that the remaining balance will be forfeited, blocked, or rendered unusable, nor is there any mention that full redemption in one transaction is mandatory.
Despite this, JioMart customer support claims such a policy exists and has closed my complaint without resolving the issue or providing any remedy. This amounts to:
* Unfair trade practice
* Deficiency in service
* Misrepresentation and lack of transparent disclosure, in violation of the Consumer Protection Act, 2019
I have already attempted resolution directly with JioMart, but the issue was closed unilaterally without justification.
I am therefore requesting:
* Immediate refund or restoration of the blocked gift card balance of ?255, and
* Appropriate action against JioMart to prevent such undisclosed and anti-consumer practices affecting other customers.
I request the Forum to take cognizance of this matter.
