Deduction of charges by HDFC without notice:

Thanks consumer forum for taking this up promtly. HDFC have called me up right after you guys escalated to them, and to my pleasant surprise, they have reversed the charge. A consumer is protected by many laws and rights, however very few are aware of those, and many company (in this case like HDFC), takes advantage of these to unscrupulously make money. Knowledge and awareness of rights is the only way forward. Kudos to ICF for serving this great cause!!!
