I booked a holiday package for Mauritius with makemytrip (one of the agents in Pune) on Feb 10th 2020. The holiday was planned from 10th June 2020 to 16th June 2020. Total package amount was rupees 158928/- and I booked this trip paying more than half of the amount which is rupees 82000/-.
So basically this booking was not done from my account. It was done from the agents account.
Due to this pandemic, I received a cancellation SMS on my mobile (on May15th 2020) for both onward and toward journeys. The SMS stated “Due to suspension of flights till 30th June2020, MK749/10th June and MK748/16th June has been cancelled. Please contact your travel agency”.
I informed makemytrip about this and asked them for refund of my booking amount, but I have been given reasons like “Airline is grounded and not refunding money” so we cannot refund you anything at this moment. I have not been shown any proofs regarding this statement. Even I was not shared the PNR of the ticket so I could check myself.
From 15th May 2020 till today, I am constantly following up with makemytrip over email and calls asking for refunds and what else could be done to get the money back. No positive response from them.
My 82000 rupees is stuck with makemytrip during this critical situation.
I just want all my money [82000 rupees] to be refunded to my account ASAP
