I am writing to formally lodge a complaint regarding the recent charges levied on my HDFC Bank Credit Card and the blocking of my card without prior intimation.
I have been a loyal HDFC Credit Card holder since 2005 and have always maintained a spotless payment record, with no defaults or delays until now. I am very regular in clearing my outstanding dues.
My November 2025 statement was generated on 5 December 2025 with an outstanding of ?607.56, payable by 24 December 2025. Unfortunately, I missed the payment deadline due to oversight, and my card was blocked without any prior notification, which caused me considerable inconvenience. Upon realizing this, I immediately cleared the payment on 29 December 2025.
However, in my subsequent statement dated 5 January 2026, I was shocked to find additional charges amounting to ?631, which is more than 100% of my actual dues. The breakup of these charges is as follows:
?500 – Late Payment Fee
?90 – GST on Late Payment Fee
?41.01 – Finance Charges
I feel deeply disappointed by this treatment, especially considering my long-standing relationship with the bank and my consistent payment history. Blocking my card without intimation and imposing such disproportionate charges is unfair and has caused me distress.
I kindly request you to:
Review my case in light of my impeccable payment history.
Waive the late payment fee, GST, and finance charges applied in January 2026.
Reinstate my card usage without further inconvenience.
I trust HDFC Bank values its loyal customers and will take immediate corrective action in this matter.
