I received a call from an individual named Axxxxxa, who introduced herself as a sales representative from HDFC Ergo. She informed me that my HDFC Ergo Health Insurance policy was nearing expiration and offered assistance with the renewal. During the conversation, Axxxa mentioned that HDFC Ergo had partnered with Aditya Birla for portability, which would offer additional benefits, including no waiting period for any medical condition. She assured me that, as a long-time customer of HDFC Ergo (for over 10 years), I was eligible for this special offer, which included lower premiums and enhanced benefits such as coverage for first-stage chronic cancer treatment. I agreed to port my policy to Aditya Birla as my HDFC Ergo primary and top-up policies were about to expire.
After the activation of my Aditya Birla policy on December 15, 2024, I received a call from Aditya Birla explaining the policy terms. I was shocked to learn that the policy had a two-year waiting period before the full sum insured could be utilised for treatments or hospitalisation, which was completely contrary to what I had been told by Axxxxxx and Rxxxxx. I immediately attempted to reach Rxxxx to clarify the situation, but he did not respond to my calls nor to whatsapp messages. When I contacted him using my husband’s phone number, he answered and confirmed that the policy had no waiting period, as previously stated by hum during policy sale. However, he assured me that he would call back in five minutes, but he never did. I later discovered that both Axxxx and Rxxxxxx were not employees of HDFC Ergo or Aditya Birla, but salespersons working for Oasis Insurance Brokers Pvt. Ltd.. Additionally, Pxxxx from Aditya Birla contacted me, attempting to convince me that I had misunderstood the policy terms. I have also requested for cancellation of policy with full refund, over phone call on 29th Dec by calling on Aditya Birla Insurance customer care toll free no..
