I am writing to lodge a formal complaint against a maid services consultancy – BookMyBai – regarding the denial of a refund for services that were never rendered, despite full payment.
On 08/04/2025, I finalized a maid for baby care and minor household work through BookMyBai’s platform. The maid was scheduled to begin on 09/04/2025. Prior to the service commencement, I was asked to pay the full service charge amounting to ?15,000 (?1,000 advance + ?14,000 final payment), which I promptly did. The invoice is attached with this letter for your reference.
However, the maid did not report for duty, and there was no communication from her side. Despite waiting for two days and informing the consultancy’s representative immediately, no action or clarification was provided. While alternative candidates were suggested, they were not suitable for our specific requirements. Consequently, we made alternate arrangements independently due to the urgent nature of our need.
I formally requested a full refund for the service which was never initiated, but the consultancy refused and instead offered a credit note or replacement, citing a policy mentioned on the back of the invoice. This approach is unacceptable and against basic consumer rights, as the service paid for was not delivered in any form. I believe this refusal to issue a refund constitutes deficiency in service and an unfair trade practice.
I respectfully request the forum to:
Direct the consultancy to issue a full refund of ?15,000.
