Complaint regarding unauthorised transaction on Mobikwik

On August 5th 2023 there was a fraud activity in my Mobikwik Pay Later Wallet, duping INR 34700 from my wallet. I immediately contacted Miobikwik helpdesk and reported the activity after which they suspended my wallet.

I registered a complaint on National cyber Crime Reporting Portal (NCCRP). Couple of days later went to the local police station personally to register a case of fraud. I shared the grievance report from NCCRP to the mobikwik. Throughout the month Mobikwik assured me they are looking in to this matter and I do not have to worry about it. As per their rule if fraud activity is reported within 72hrs I need not to pay a penny for the occurred fraud. I also made clear that I am willing to pay the amount I used within that period but not for the fraud activity.

After a month, bill was generated from Mobikwik asking me to pay the whole amount including the fraud. I again contacted their customer care via calls and mails and they started asking me for the complaint copy which I had submitted to them few times already. Once the payment deadline was over they started messaging me to pay the dues with penalties with no resolution whatsoever. They cited that since the fraud transaction was non-reversible I had to pay the whole amount along with penalties. When I refused to pay it they started harassing me by making IVR calls, and texting me that if I don’t pay them they will report this as unpaid debt to the credit agencies which will affect my credit score heavily.

Later I started receiving calls from recovery agents from Mobikwik. I reported this thing to the lender named Transact Tree about this but there was no response. So after circling back and forth with mobikwik for 2 months, on 7th October I approached RBI Ombudsman and raised a complaint against Mobikwik for unfair practices for which I received acknowledgement copy on my Email-ID. I regularly checked the status of my complaint and after 60 days my case was closed stating case closure under 16(2)(a) till date I have not received any official mail from RBI ombudsman about case closure nor the verdict. Apparently it’s non-appealable. after the case is closed Mobikwik reported my account as unpaid debt to credit agencies which has affected my CIBIL and CRIF high mark credit score very heavily.

I am still receiving mails from Moboikwik asking me the copies of registered complaint.
