I am writing to file a formal complaint against IndiGo Airlines for an unjust and unexplained deduction of ?35,000 from a flight booking refund, despite cancelling well in advance due to a serious national security concern.
I had booked flight tickets to Srinagar in January 2025, with a total payment of ?43,000, intending to take my parents on a long-awaited trip. This was a special journey I had been saving for over a long period. However, given the high alert situation in Srinagar and growing national security concerns, I responsibly cancelled the tickets two months in advance to ensure our safety.
Despite such a timely cancellation and the extraordinary circumstances beyond my control, IndiGo refunded only ?10,000. This deduction of ?33,000 is entirely unreasonable, especially given that the cancellation was prompted by a public safety emergency. I have made multiple attempts to seek a resolution from IndiGo Airlines, but have received no transparent justification or support.
This experience has not only resulted in financial loss but also deep emotional disappointment, as this trip was meant to be a gift for my elderly parents.
I kindly request the Consumer Forum to take up this matter and direct IndiGo Airlines to refund the remaining ?35,000 at the earliest. I am prepared to submit all supporting documents including payment receipts, booking and cancellation confirmations, and related communication with the airline.
Thank you for your attention and support in this matter
